The topic of eventual payments for studies has been widely discussed lately. The problem has divided the nation: there are many who claim this idea unjust, and according to others this is the only solution to repair the system of public education.
Undoubtedly the decision whether to introduce payments for university education will never be made unanimously. There are strong for and against. Nevertheless, we have to think rationally of the best solution.
On the one hand, the public university education has been in poor condition for years. Too many students, lack of manuals, not enough money for the teachers. Moreover, many specialists tend to take part-time jobs at private universities, neglecting public students, which are often much more talented. This may cause a worse level of public education.
That is why universities need some extra-money for the state aid is just too little. Thus, the payments for education seem necessary.
On the other hand introducing payments we would automatically forbid the underprivileged youth to study. some may say that there would be scholarships , but we all know that they are generally insufficient. None the less, there would be a risk that being rich, even if unintelligent, would allow to get the higher education, whereas being poor, even if talented, would reduce chances of getting a degree.
All in all, the decision is complicated. I would stand for maintaining the free university education to maintain the equal chances for everyone, and introducing maybe a part payment.
